MOMBASA
ABOUT Mombasa

Mombasa is Kenya’s main centre of rest and relaxation and the communications centre of the coastal region. Inspite of this, the city is not without its problems. The most evident is the infamous “urban drift”. Mombasa’s thriving commerce draws in the poor, the displaced and the ambitious from all over the countryside; and the price it pays is the strain in attempting to match the pace of population growth with the provision of accommodation, services and facilities. Located in the Kizingo area of Mombasa town, New Life Home Trust – Mombasa is reaching out to children who, as a result of overwhelming socio-economic problems, poverty and the AIDS pandemic, are being abandoned or orphaned at a very tender age. The home admits babies aged 0 – 6 months and is expected to become one of three main ‘receiving points’ for the TRUST’S network of satellite homes. Children that would otherwise become HIV/AIDS statistics or live in abject poverty will find a place of hope and a healthy environment to live in. NEW LIFE HOME TRUST has risen in this coastoal region of Kenya, as has in other places, to address this problem by bringing hope to children who have been abandoned, orphaned and those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Over the years, NEW LIFE HOME TRUST has admitted, into the main home in Nairobi, a number of abandoned babies from this tourist city of Mombasa.
