NEW LIFE HOME TRUST KISUMU
Set in Nyanza Province in western Kenya on the banks of Lake Victoria lies the city of Kisumu, made famous as the last point of the 581 mile (935km) Mombasa to Kisumu single-track railway that was completed in December 1901.
Kisumu has also become the home of New Life Home Trust’s first satellite children’s home, opened in the year 2000. The home houses nearly 50 babies and young children who have been rescued from a life of abandonment and the effects of AIDS. Children who are not adopted become members of the on-site family home, Simon Newberry Cottage, or are transferred to one of the Trust’s other facilities in Kenya. | was opened as the first stage of a centre for the Trust’s children impaired by physical or mental disabilities. Registered by the Kenyan government as a children’s home and as a private medical institution enables the home to give wholistic care through its team of caregivers and volunteer doctors. |
